Going on pasta tonight and topping a soup tomorrow: HOLY BASIL PESTO. Holy Basil (Aka Tulsi) is an adaptogenic herb that can reduce cortisol levels and help with anxiety and hormone imbalance, among other things. It is widely regarded as one of the most useful broad-spectrum anti-stress adaptogenic herbs. It does beautifully in culinary uses - which is why you see it in so many teas. Made a fresh basil / lemon / garlic / pine nut pesto and simply added 3 tsp dried holy basil to it while in the food processor to level it up. 🌱🌱

WOOD // Cucumber-Herb-Dandelion Salad with Lemon Yogurt Za'atar dressing and Red Chili. All these fresh green herbs- parsley, basil, mint + a bit of bitter dandelion greens & lemon really activate the Liver Qi and aide in cleansing. Seaweed is the ultimate YIN food. Born below water and out of salt and mineral comes this dark, edible plant rich with nutrients. I always learned a little cheat sheet to recall the powers of seaweeds. Hijiki = Calcium. Nori = protein. Dulse = Iron. If you are looking to supplement your diet in one of these areas, these foods are a wonderful way to start. The 5 Elements (often called 5 Phases ) are WATER / WOOD / FIRE / EARTH / METAL. The Kidney organs are associated with our Water element. When the Kidney Qi is weak, there can be problems with water metabolism, urination, fertility, or sexuality. The color of the Kidney is black, like the night.
